Gela-Marie Williams is an artist and writer based in sunny Queensland, Australia. Her book, Green Vanilla Tea, (penned under Marie Williams) is a Finch Memoir Prize winner.
Gela-Marie is interested in the power of stories to grow empathy and connection. She also likes to draw and paint. She worked as a social worker (MSW) for many years before swapping clipboards for paintbrushes: in health settings, the not-for-profit sector, clinical education and private practice. It was important work and a privilege to be invited into the intimate spaces of peoples’ lives.
Through both writing and art she continues to explore what it is to be human and hopes to bring a splash of joy to
When she is not in her studio, surrounded by nature in the semi-rural outskirts of Brisbane, you might find her bushwalking or getting her hands dirty in the garden.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy looking around!
